It’s all in the stars

For 2008, all accommodation grades in this publication have been based on a new set of common quality standards agreed by Visit Wales, Visit Britain, Visit Scotland and the AA. The star ratings reflect the facilities and overall quality of the experience.

A guide to quality assurance Star grades mean that you can be sure of standards and choose the accommodation that’s just right for you.  Visit Wales/AA are the only checking agents in Wales, checking out over 5,000 places. In the case of properties handled by self-catering agencies, the frequency between visits can be longer. Occasionally, it has not been possible to visit the accommodation prior to publication. In these instances, the property is marked as ‘Awaiting Grading’. STARS are your guide to quality. The Star Quality Grading Schemes apply to all types of accommodation: serviced - hotels, guest houses, bed and breakfast, farm accommodation, hostel/hostel type accommodation, self-catering cottages and apartments and caravan holiday home and touring/camping parks.

	Well presented and well run
	Good level of quality and comfort
	Excellent standard throughout
	Exceptional, with a degree of luxury

Welcome Host

This customer care scheme, open to everyone from hotel staff to taxi drivers, places the emphasis on
hospitality and first-class service. There are three categories: Gold, Silver and Bronze.

When booking, please ask whether an Access Statement has been prepared for the premises in which you are interested. Prices

For hotels, guest houses and farmhouses, all prices are PER PERSON, based on TWO PEOPLE sharing a double or twin room. SINGLE ROOM OCCUPANCY will usually be charged extra, and there may be supplements for private bath/shower. Daily rates are for bed and breakfast. Short break rates are for two nights’ dinner, B&B. For self-catering holiday cottages and apartments, rates are quoted per property per week or short break (2-4 days). Rates for caravan holiday home rental are per unit per week or short break (2-4 days).  Touring caravan and camping park rates are for two people and their caravan, motor home or tent per night.
